We all know it has wonderful beaches, samba music and a fantastic football tradition, but they will count for little if you are held up in broad daylight by some knife-wielding, wild-eyed scumbag lowlife demanding your wallet, mobile phone and laptop.

Luis Suarez came full circle when he was voted the Footballer of the Year for 2014 by the Football Writers' Association, who recognised the rehabilitation and dedication of the Liverpool forward.
